Current programs include:
A workshop on Sustainability and Historic Preservation, in partnership with several divisions of the National Park Service and supported by a grant from the Historic Preservation Foundation.
A Feasibility Study, funded in part by the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board and the Windsor Southeast Supervisory Union, is under way to evaluate using the Jacob House as a preschool. Engineering students just completed a review of the project as a senior class project.
We are partnering with the Barre Historical Society, Preservation Trust of Vermont and several other groups to conduct a brick repointing workshop in Barre, Vermont this fall.
The Asher Benjamin Model will be on display at the Old Constitution House in Windsor this summer beginning June 11. I will present a talk on the 11th at 2pm about how the loss of three Benjamin-designed buildings in Windsor contributed to the creation of Historic Windsor when Windsor House was threatened with demolition in 1971. Yes, 1971! This is our 45th year!
The Vermont Preservation Conference takes place on June 10. Visit www.ptvermont.org for details. We are co-hosting a window repair demonstration from 12-4pm and a panel discussion from 1-2pm: you can earn one AIA HSW Learning Unit for the panel discussion since we are a registered AIA Continuing Education Provider.
The courses in our Preservation Skills and Technology Certificate Program underwent a review this past winter. We anticipate a renewal of the college transfer credit program for all 10 courses. This review is conducted by the Education Testing and Evaluation Service of the Vermont State College System.
The Traditional Building Show takes place in New Haven, CT July 19 and 20. I encourage you to attend!
